About the Journal

Transfer. Reception Studies

Transfer. Reception Studies is a peer-reviewed academic journal published by Jan Długosz University in Częstochowa. It is dedicated to research into critical reception and reflection on the (inter)national circulation, transfer, transformation, and, last but not least, adaptation of literary works and other texts of culture. The journal is published annually and features articles by contributors from Poland and abroad, in English, German, and Polish.
Reception studies encompass theoretical considerations as well as analyses of texts (literary and cultural) from the fields of literary studies and translation studies, and thus operate at the interface of comparative literature, literary history, translation studies, hermeneutics, interpretation and reading practices.
The annual series presents contemporary interpretative practices in thematic volumes. The common thread running throughout the published volumes is the assumption that a text (whether literary or cultural) which is incorporated into a specific context becomes a key to an interpretative strategy within that community and beyond. In line with the journal’s profile, the reflections on literature and culture from the three linguistic areas (Polish, English, and German speaking countries) situate the published articles within the broader field of research on world's literature, which is intended to contribute to the renewal of reception studies in Poland and abroad. The inclusion of various research perspectives introduced by a global community of authors, is intended not only to break through the ‘paradigms of literary studies’ and contribute to a redefinition of literary history, but also to strengthen the interdisciplinary nature of the contemporary humanities and highlight their role in cultural reality.

As a unique specialist forum for Polish and international literary scholars engaged in English, German, and Polish studies with a comparative focus, the journal also covers the reception of other literatures within the language areas under investigation, as well as the intersections between reception studies and the fields of Audience & Communication Studies, Book Science, film studies, as well as (Digital) Media Studies.

The journal publishes academic papers, reviews, and essays (conference reports are also accepted) on subjects included in the scope of the journal, as well as on other national literatures.

The journal publishes in English, German and Polish.

The journal is published on an annual basis.
