Abstract

The core of this article is the DAAD-Lecturer‘s reflections on previous work at Charles University and the Pedagogical University in Cracow. He gives insight not only into his teaching, advertising of scholarships, and cultural work, but also into the partially private, organisational circumstances under which he carried out his work. The author focuses on his impressions and the perceived differences in the transition from being a Language Assistant to Lecturer. A special feature here is that the author is the first DAAD-Lecturer to be appointed at the Pedagogical University of Cracow, a position filled againsta background of the Polish
university reforms and the current situation of DAAD in Poland.
